Begin your Noosa Everglades kayaking adventure at the Great Sandy National Park Canoe Launching site on the shore of Lake Cootharaba. Before we set off, be briefed on paddling techniques and trip highlights. Set off North across Lake Cootharaba to Kinaba (Sir Thomas Hiley) Information Centre where we will stop for a deliciously prepared morning tea including fresh fruit, dips, sweets and tea and coffee brewed on site. While we're there read about the Great Sandy National Park and the ecology of the upper Noosa River, take a strole along the boardwalk which follows the edge of Lake Cootharaba, or simply sit and take in the marvelous views back over the lake.
Back in our kayaks, we continue up into the Noosa Everglades (Upper Noosa River) and navigate our way through small lakes and islands of reeds and tea-trees and up into the section known as'The Narrows'; where the water is so glassy and still it mirrors the surrounding landscape perfectly. Enjoy the company of various water birds who are lazily sunning themselves on logs and tree branches, and drift past the mass blankets of waterlillies. Paddle all the way to the famous fisherman's campout'Harry's Hut', spoil yourself with a well earned picnic lunch beside the River and freshen up with a rejuvenating swim from the jetty. We then make our way back to the launch site on the shores of Lake Cootharaba for our 4pm pick up.
