Vehicles: 4WD with power steering and roof racks, 8 people per 4WD.
Accommodation: 2 nights camping on Fraser Island PLUS 3 bonus nights at Dingos backpackers in Rainbow Beach atDingos Backpackers.7 share mixed ensuite dorms, FREE pancake brekky with tea and coffee every morning. $5 meals each night, fully licensed bar, pool, internet, 2 mins walk to the beach and twice daily FREE trips to the local beauty spot'Carlo Sandblow'.
An Example of Food We Pack for Fraser:
Breakfast = Cornflakes, scrambled eggs on toast, toast with Peanut butter or Strawberry jam, tea, coffee, fresh orange juice.
Lunch = Sandwiches, wraps with roast beef corned beef, cheese, salad, Apples, oranges
Dinner =
1st night locally sourced beef steaks, potato salad, and a garden Salad.
2nd night will be Asian chicken stir fry with rice.
Snacks = muesli bars, cake and biscuits
Note:Must attend a orientation meeting the day before at 3:30pm in Dingos Hostel.
Day of departure:
7.45am– Morning brief: we cover the following: Pack cars, check equipment, Dingo’s safety, and driver brief.
9.30am- Depart for the Island, approx 10 minute drive to the barge, approx 10 minute barge crossing.1 hour drive to the Eurong resort. There you can grab a coffee and chocolate croissant (own cost)From here we drive to Lake McKenzie, have some lunch, spend some time here having a play.3pm drive up the beach to the campsite, set up camp, early dinner and drinks.
Second Day: Breakfast, then head off for the day to see the following. Eli creek, Maheno shipwreck, Indian head, champagne pools. Lunch at either the shipwreck or champagne pools. Whichever is safest and most beautiful at the time.
Back to camp for dinner and drinks.
Third day:Breakfast, take down camp. Drive to the beginning of the Lake Wabby walk. Have lunch. Then cruise down the beach heading back to the barge. Head back to the 4WD shed where you unpack and sweep the cars. Return to the hostel between 3pm and 4pm.
